Life, Music and Summer in Canada!

Hello Peeps!
I have had THE craziest week...I think my body is trying to kill me...I have fallen over in public several times as of late...My 3 year old son tried to break my nose, whilst snuggling with me in a rather crazy/psycho toddler cloud of energy....I am thinking in retrospect, it's my body getting me back for temporarily making it JOG for excessive distances and with little or no notice...After taking part (small part) of a 75KM Marathon 2 weeks ago, I am convinced my body is gently reminding me that I am BREAKABLE...lol

Anyways, besides all of that, all is well here in our lives.
I am getting VERY VERY VERY excited to come back to Canada in about 2 weeks time...I still have a few things to finish up here, so have not yet COMPLETELY let the fact sink in that is has been a YEAR since we were home...The longest time away from my parents since I was a tiny little egg....I digress...SKYPE is amazing for the separation, although the tendency leans to excited drunk calls...which I imagine gets boring ( got boring ) a few years ago when we first moved out of the country...So I am MUCH more thrilled to get the real life contact very soon..

I have had the most amazing experience of my life, getting to work in an amazing Pre-School here in Sao Paulo. It's the same school that both our children go to, and I was lucky to get to be the MUSIC TEACHER...Anyways, this amazing and beautiful little school closes it's doors for good next week...All of the kids are moving on to other schools as well the teachers. Although it was a short time, this experience has fueled my desire to become a pre-school teacher...While spending time with these little people over the past 6 months, I had a bit of a captive audience (heeheeee). I had a TONNE of time to learn children's songs as WELL as time to write more music for me...Or for Adults...I have not felt so relaxed about music in years, and playing music to 4 year olds is therapy for any musician I believe..

So on that note I am letting you all know that I am starting the process of another album...I have a few songs that were written AGES ago, that never were recorded, along with 5 NEW songs...I am taking time this summer to hopefully write some more with friends and bring stuff back here to Brazil. My friend Caetano Malta, who recently is playing and recording on Lucas Santtana's most recent work has given the thumbs up to producing this new album, and I on the other hand have to work on trying out some new ideas...I am looking forward to this challenge and have already enjoyed the ideas that have come forward....I have always written on Guitar, which has limited me in some ways...But now I am venturing out onto Piano...Played very badly, I can assure you...But sometimes maybe this insecurity opens up another channel...Another vibe...We will see...I am too old to start experimenting with drugs, so am hoping the change of instruments will do....HAAHAAAAAAA!

Love you ALL,
Love me back.

"Take off Eh, Ya Hoser"

Now, if that phrase is not common to you, you MAY not be Canadian, or worse you may never have seen Bob and Doug Mckenzie from one of my favourite shows SCTV...All of the above is ok...But here is a little bit of info, just to keep you updated!

Hoser

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
For other uses, see Hoser (disambiguation).
Hoser is both a slang term and a derogatory term, originating from Canada and used primarily by those imitating Canadians.[1] It is not often used by Canadians, but it is sometimes used as "typical" Canadian slang by others. The term "hoser" gained popularity from the comedic skits by Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas (also known as Bob and Doug McKenzie) in SCTV’s "The Great White North" segments.[2]

I realised just now whilst looking at my own website ( we ALL do that...ummm don't we?) that I had not posted anything since December, and even that post was short, sweet, and slightly depressing. I would like to let everyone know that ALL is well...I am still out 'GIVN'R' ,(another Canadian phrase, which basically means working ones balls off...) making music, raising babies hanging with Brazilian cops and having small car crashes in Latin American countries...

In spirit of my HOSER comment, I leave you with a new acoustic cover I just managed to squeak out
(after 57 takes) by HOZIER...Lots of Love, Cami xxxx
If you are in the Sao Paulo area, come out to see me play some tunes with my friend Caetano Malta on Guitar...He has very groovy hair, always comes with a funky shirt, and plays a mean guitar....

"The Heart of the Beard"

Not a new song for me, but DEFINITELY a current hit under construction for my daughter Hannah...
I found this out at 745am the other morning, in our taxi en route to school. Sam on my lap,me clinging for life, Hannah floating around somewhere to left of me all the while working hard on her new song...I don't know WHERE it came from...But it was something like "...at the heart of the beard, is a really lovely mustache, a really lovely place to be"(sung to a version of "Let it Go"-from the movie Frozen incase you don't have kids.) I mean WHERE does this come from?
It managed to amuse all three of us for the remainder of the ride, which always is a good start to any day!
I am intrigued and amazed by the little people in my life as of late...Very grateful for all of them.

Okay, enough of all of that.
At this particular moment, I am in a bakery next door to our apartment while a lovely young lady by the name of Ingred, looks after Hannah and Sam. It is Saturday night, its almost 9pm and the families are just starting to come out for dinner.I don't know if I will EVER get used to this, but its quite nice right now.I wanted to have a chance to update my website, which seems to take way more concentration than my kids are willing to let me put in any other direction, than them. The way it's supposed to be, I know!

I have a small tour in The UK coming up and am finally getting excited, now that it's looking REAL and the dates are getting closer. I get to rock with my UK version of 'The Guilty Birds Band'- This lineup has

Bob Wilson/Drums (Louis Eliot and The Embers)

Kevin Jefferies/Bass (RogerTaylor)

Benjamin Morgan/Guitar ( All The Fires, Loose Salute)

Here is a current list of venues:( more dates to be announced)

December 9th- The New Inn, Tywardreath UK (w/Guilty Birds Band)
December 10th- 1 hour Radio Show on AIR 107.2  www.aironair.co.uk
December 11th- Mama Stones, Exeter (w/Guilty Birds Band)

December 13th- House Concert, Dorset(Solo Show)
December 15th- The 12BAR London(w/Guilty Birds Band)

December 18th- The Windmill Brighton (w/Guilty Birds Band)

I think this will be it as far as dates go for now...

I had a great show a couple of weeks ago here in Sao Paulo with another version of my 'Guilty Birds Band' lineup. With only one rehearsal, and armed with Marisha Devoin's WICKED charts, we rocked The Na Mata Cafe in Itaim Bibi.
A MASSIVE thank you to Cliff who runs and books bands at Na Mata, as well as to Maria Petit (Cutie on the left)from SP Night Market, who busted her butt getting people out on a Wednesday night....xxxx

Caetano Malta on Guitar, Beto Gibbs on drums, Klaus Sena on bass and Joao Leao on Keys..
These guys give such a cool feel to the songs...I don't know exactly what it is, could be a combo of their jazz influences/and their fanTASTIC beards...I think the two together give these guys a certain awesomeness...I was proud to be in their circle for a show...

Thanks to Beer 961 for being the amazing sponser of the night....mmmmm Beer.

My husband even got to come out, although he had to fly off somewhere at 4am- Also got to hang with friends!!!! Hi Jaime Chamberlain !
Got to wear some WICKED cowboy Boots and use my Danelectro Chorus Pedal

Ate Logo Cafe Na Mata!!!!

Guilty is as Guilty does.

I have been waiting for this video for a month now.Well worth the wait, and I know the amount of work and TLC that went into editing this project...I am very proud to share this...Hope you enjoy!
Thank you to Jose Grageda(Director/Editor), Carlos Matienzo(Filmed) and Marina Covarrubias(Art/Set design) for their hard work.
Mostly a massive thanks to all of the people who came out as extras, and 'faked party-ing' with me for 15 hours. I will post a version of the video here with full credits in the next couple of weeks!!

Much love, Cami xxxx
